Cosmetic Face Surgery – Purchasing Youth and Beauty

Plastic surgery is the process of reforming or molding certain body parts, such as the face, to correct deformities gained from birth or from an external injury.  An external injury may be brought about by an accident or by a disease.  For several years, cosmetic face surgery has been enjoying wide popularity and acceptance. With the evolving views on self-perception, self-independence and self-worth, men and women all over the world have unabashedly  paid for this service, associating it as a status symbol with the high cost attached to this procedure.  It also comes as a prerequisite in a society for the rich and the famous, where celebrities are known to be able to afford everything that comes with a hefty price, even that of improving one’s physical appearance.

Nowadays, the development of technology have created sophisticated and modern techniques in cosmetic procedures that are less costly yet efficiently safer.  People from all socioeconomic backgrounds can now afford to undergo a plastic surgery as needed.  Even the perspective in dealing with this surgical operation has dramatically changed.  People are more open-minded and accepting of the thought of having a cosmetic face surgery for aesthetic purposes.  It is seen as normal as changing the color of one’s hair or crowning the teeth.

Cosmetic procedures to counteract premature aging and to delay the visible signs of old age are just numerous. Most of the procedures deal with the restoration of the facial contour that will help show youth instead of aging. One of these methods is the removal of the excess facial fat and skin to smoothen out the wrinkles through a process called liposuction.   A double chin or too much fatty tissues in the cheeks can be removed using a cannula, a narrow tube placed as a suction under the skin.

Another popular cosmetic face surgery procedure is the dermabrasion. It involves removal of the topmost facial layer by way of sanding the skin.  The abrasive effect of a sanding wheel can smooth out irregularities in facial surfaces brought about by acne scars, wrinkles and precancerous growth.  It produces similar effects in treating wrinkles as a chemical peel does, but with less obvious changes in the skin’s color.  This makes dermabrasion technique preferred by darker skinned people. Care should be taken not to administer dermabrasion around the eye areas.

Brow lifts and face lifts are best done through endoscopic techniques.  This method uses an endoscope to guide surgery allowing for small incisions, resulting to a quicker recovery  time with the less trauma to the tissues.  However, this cosmetic face surgery option is available only for those whose skin is still somehow tight and elastic. This is because it entails contour correction by raising the facial structures, avoiding flaps of the skin to be torn or to be cut.

On a final note, it is important to keep in mind that in order to be satisfied with a cosmetic face surgery, one should have realistic expectations.  Youth restored through this process is along the aesthetic factors only and not on the strength, and in some instances, it cannot guarantee happiness.
