Different Nose Jobs

A nose job is the medical alteration of one’s nose look to make it look better.  Nose jobs have changed over the years and the nose jobs we get today are very different nose jobs than the first ones performed.

The first nose jobs were performed around 500 BC by Sushruta, a Hindu physician.  In that time, the removal of the nose was a punishment given out for certain crimes.  Sushruta was the first to try to concept of plastic surgery for the nose as he tried to reconstruct the amputated noses of his patients.

Currently nose jobs are normally performed for aesthetic reasons.  In cultures that are highly focused on outside appearance such as Hollywood and Los Angeles nose jobs are becoming popular.  Nose surgery has become more and more popular among those not so famous as well.

Africans and Asians are the people most likely to get nose jobs.  They usually want to make their noses look more Caucasian or European.  The different types of nose job that a person would get depends heavily on the structure of her nose.  Therefore, the type of nose job performed on an African is a different nose job than the type performed on an Asian.

Nose job tips:

  • Make sure you go to a place that is certified and has a lot of experience with a good reputation.
  • Find out as much as you can about how to prepare for nose surgery and what to do afterward.
  • Talk with the surgeon beforehand so you will be comfortable with the details of the surgery and what the expected results are.
  • Be aware that you probably wont be able to return to your regular life immediately after the surgery.  There will be a period of recovery.
  • Nose bleeding can happen after a nose job.  Do not try lying down on your back, instead, sit up and tilt your head forward.  Then use a tissue to stop the blood.  If the bleeing continues for a long period, you’ll want to consult your doctor.
  • Avoid blowing your nose for a few weeks after any surgical coverings are removed.
  • Avoid athletic activities for a couple fo weeks after surgery.
  • Avoid over exposure to the sun for upwards of 3 months after your operation.

Most nose jobs call for general or local anesthesia, depending on the seriousness of the surgery. Incisions, or cuts, are made inside the nose or on the piece of skin between the nostrils.  The doctor then restructures the bone and cartilage inside the nose.  There is some risk involved and a nose job should only be performed in a a hospital or clinic with all the proper equipment.

Some people get several nose jobs during their lives.  California nose jobs seem to happen on a regular basis.  Stars are admitting to have multiple nose jobs seeking that perfect appearance.  You don’t want to get in the practice of having a nose job that is meant to fix the mistake made in the last nose surgery.

For those that are afraid of going under for a surgical nose alteration, there are non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures.  In non surgical nose jobs, the shape of the nose is altered by filling in the depressed parts.  Fortunately for the patient this doesn’t require any invasive surgery techniques, but it may not be possible to get the same results as can come from surgical nose modifications.

Different nose jobs allow for and in fact can require different methods of surgery. Talk to a doctor and find out what would work best for your particular circumstance.  And remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
