The Asian Nose Job
Plastic surgery has become very popular and much more socially acceptable in recent years all around the world. It seems as if everyone is keen to get some part of their body altered. Of course, everyone around the world looks very different and most people who have surgery want it to look natural and as if they have not actually had it. This means that plastic surgeons have to be very skilled so that they can alter someone’s features, without altering the essence of their face. The Asian nose job is one such procedure, where surgeons have to be very careful to ensure that by altering someone’s nose, they do not alter the person’s ethnicity.
Asians have fairly distinctive noses, in that they tend to be flatter and wider than their Caucasian counterparts. Although there is absolutely nothing wrong with this type of nose, often Asian people, particularly women, feel that their nose is not prominent enough and want surgery to make it a stronger feature on their face. This works in direct contrast to the Caucasian dilemma, where the vast majority of patients are seeking a reduction in nose size.
Typically the Asian nose job involves making the bridge more prominent, so that it stands out against the face. Other requests are to make the tip of the nose shapelier, in addition to a reduction in width of the nostrils. Often nasal implants are used to build up the bridge or fill in the nostrils. In the past these implants have always been of an artificial material. However, it is now widely recognized that it is better advised, where possible, to use cartilage from the patients own body to complete the rhinoplasty.
The problem with artificial material is that it may actually cause the person some pain or discomfort, and also, in more extreme cases, the body may actually reject this material and it can cause illness until removed. Using material from one’s own body is a much more natural solution to the problem. It also looks much more natural on the patient’s face.
However, if surgery is not for you, for the past five years the non-surgical asian nose job has existed. This utilizes injectable fillers to fill out the nose and build up the bridge. Although not useful for any nose reductions, it is highly beneficial for those who wish to make this feature more prominent, which means it is great for an asian nose job. The procedure is also non-permanent and pain free, which is a much less scary way of altering your face.
Before having any kind of nose alteration, surgical or non, it is advised to have an in-depth consultation with a medical professional to make the right decision for your own face.
